Frequently asked Questions
Questions and Answers
Is this something flexible? Commit to a day or two or three if that works for your family! We ask that your student/family commit to 1 semester: Aug-Dec or Jan-April/May. Exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Families are welcome to schedule a time to come and visit to determine the right fit for their family.
Need something affordable? Ask! We can work with you to make this affordable.
Does our family need to interview? Yes! We want to make sure this will be a good fit before you commit to the entire semester.
Do I have to buy/use the curriculum you use? No. If you have something that is currently working for your child, just have them bring it with them! They can do their work while others work on theirs.
What about my child with special needs? We are not equipped to handle major educational challenges but can assist in finding an alternative program.
What does parent involvement look like? This is very flexible depending on family situations. Encourage your children to complete the work they are capable of. You know your child best! Homework will only be assigned if it was assigned but not completed for that day.
What does our family commitment look like? Please come to the class/es you commit to. Learning is more fun with like-minded friends. Stay home if you are sick. Communicate issues before they become overwhelming. Encourage children and adults to do their best. See a need, help meet the need.
Is this an actual school? No. Each student is registered as a homeschooler either by submitting a Notice of Intent OR Religious Exemption to their local school Superintendent. The facilitators of this center are assisting parents by overseeing their children’s learning. A parent can, at any time, drop in and visit and help with anything they would like. These children are theirs and they are the ones with final authority on what they want their children to learn.
What about Field Trips? We try to go on 1 field trip a month. We do some educational and some fun to keep it interesting! This is included in the cost of full-time tuition.
What about insurance? A policy through State Farm covers any mishaps that may happen while children are here on the property. This cost will be part of full-time tuition.
What about testing/End of year progress? We use the online CAT test from Academic Excellence which is included in full-time tuition. If this does not work for your child, an evaluation can be another option for additional charge.
If I am not Lutheran, can I come anyway? Yes! We are Lutheran and will be using Lutheran materials for our opening/closing of the school day, and as needed. You are welcome to respectfully disagree and teach what you believe at home. Respectful discussions are always welcomed and encouraged. Scripture will be the final authority. A Statement of Faith is available.
What about High School graduation? We currently have children graduating in May of 2027. Parents determine requirements and issue their own diploma. We will have ceremonies as needed.
Are siblings invited? Younger siblings are welcome to attend with a parent until they are old enough to join in classes. If a sibling is too noisy, parents are welcome to take them outside or to another room. Some noise is expected! Older siblings are welcome to come and study as needed and arrangements have been made.
What subjects are offered? We have a variety of curriculum that we love and love to teach. See our curriculum page for details. So far, we have English, Latin, Logic, Rhetoric, Math, Typing, Writing, Humanities, Science, History, Music Theory, Art, and Handwriting. All subjects will not be taught every day or every semester. What is currently offered will depend on the needs of students and limitations of our instructor(s).
